This Term in Foundation Stage
We are starting term 6, with a whole school ‘Eco week’. We have been learning about how to look after our planet and the importance of using litter bins when out and about. Our children have also had the opportunity to plant some seeds and some strawberry and tomato plants in some old tyres, they are really enjoying the responsibility of keeping these plants healthy. Keep an eye on our Twitter page (@MtStNursery) and facebook page (Mount Street Nursery) for more of the exciting stuff about what we get up to.
Next week (13th June) our theme is… How many pebbles on the beach?
Our Nursery sports day is on Wednesday 15th June @11am and 2pm.
What a magical term we have had! This term we have been looking at lots of different fairy tales, including Shrek, Frozen, the 3 little pigs, the Gingerbread Man and many more! The children have made mud swamps, investigated and explored ice melting, built and tested bridges for the 3 goats to cross and even baked Gingerbread men! We also had a Storytelling Workshop, where we used drums to retell an African fairy tale, and had a visit from the Mayor!
We have been really impressed with the children’s writing this term, they have been trying really hard and are now using their phonic skills to blend and segment words, as well as form a sentence! Keep up the good work Reception!
We may ask for children to find out about the different topics throughout the year so that they can share what they know with us. We will send information about this in a letter. We also ask that parents/carers please read with their children, both their school reader, as well as other books you may have at home or from the library!
